Each sugar coated tablet contains:
Diclofenac potassium BP...... 50 mg.
Therapeutic Indications:
Short term treatment in acute conditions such as painful post-traumatic inflammatory states. Post operative inflammation and pain, Painful and /or inflammatory gynaecological conditions, Painful syndromes of the vertebral column, Non-articular rheumatism, as an adjuvant in severe painful inflammatory infections of the ear, nose and throat.
Contraindications:
Peptic ulcer, known as hypersensitivity to the active substance, acetyisalicyclic acid, or other prostaglandin synthetase inhibiting drugs.
Precautions & Warnings:
Symptoms/history of gastro-intestinal disease, impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function, porphyria. Use cautiously in elderly patients with extracellular volume depletion from any cause, Patients on diuretics, anticoagulants, or antidiabetics.
Pregnancy:
During pregnancy Catafen should be employed only for compelling reasons and only in the lowest effective doses.
Lactation:
It is distributed into breast milk, but the amount is too small to be harmful to breast-fed infants.
Adverse Effects:
Occasional: Gastro-intestinal disorders, headache, dizziness, or vertigo. rash, elevation of SGOT, SGPT.
Rare: Peptic ulcer, gastro-intestinal bleeding, hepatitis. hypersensitivity reactions.
In isolated cases:
Problems with feeling, skin rash, bleeding under the skin, kidney Problems, blood disorders.
Drug Interactions:
Catafen may raise plasma concentrations of lithium or digoxin. Diuretics: Like other NSAIDs, Catafen may inhibit the activity of diuretics. When taking systemic NSAIDs together, the side-effects may increase.
Dosage:
50 mg twice or thrice daily or as directed by a registered medical practitioner.
